ISA12.26, Oil Immersion

Scope

Survey and monitor both national and international oil immersion practices.

Purpose

  1. To summarize current practices for oil immersion as a protection technique for electrical apparatus intended for use in hazardous (classified) locations.
  2. To publish standards, recommended practices, and technical reports for the construction, marking, and performance of equipment, using oil immersion as a protection technique.
  3. To submit proposals, as needed, for revisions to standards, recommended practices, and technical reports outlining the various methods for oil immersion to prevent ignition of flammable atmospheres.
