Activity
The most recent ISA12.23 subcommittee meeting took place on 12 March 2012 at the Homewood Suites in Orlando, FL.
Draft 3 of ISA-60079-18 (12.23.01)-201X is under review by the ISA Standards and Practices Board. This draft standard is based on IEC 60079-18:2009 (3rd Edition) and contains the latest proposed US AEx requirements for encapsulation, “m”.
National Committee comments on a proposed new 4th Edition of IEC 60079-18 contained within the IEC/TC 31 MT 60079-18 document 31/982/INF were reviewed to develop recommended US positions. These positions will assist the US experts during the upcoming Spring 2012 IEC/TC 31 MT 60079-18 meeting.
2014 NEC proposals (qty. 5 total) were drafted by ISA12.23 on behalf of ISA12 introducing the issue of “mc” into Articles 505 and 506 and clarifying the identification of “ma” and “mb” in 506. All proposals have been accepted by NEC Code Making Panel 14 during Report on Proposals (ROP) meeting. The next step for these proposals is for public comments to be received and addressed during the December 2012 CMP-14 Report on Comments (ROC) meeting.
