ISA12.20, Electrical Ignition Systems for Internal Combustion Engines in Hazardous Areas

Scope

To prepare and recommend practices for ignition systems used in hazardous (classified) areas as identified in the National Electrical Code^®, and promote their technology as well as use of the resulting documents.

Purpose

Prepare a performance standard and recommended practices for construction, installation, and testing of ignition systems for internal combustion engines that are used in hazardous (classified) areas. It is intended that these documents be acceptable for ANSI recognition.

Activity

ANSI/ISA-12.20.01 was approved in May 2009, and the subcommittee is currently inactive until a review of the document for revision or reaffirmation is required.
