ISA12.10, Electrical Equipment and Area Classification for Combustible Dust Atmospheres
Scope
To formulate standards and practices for the design, installation, use, and maintenance of electrical equipment in combustible dust atmospheres, as defined in national and international codes and standards.
To promote the proper design, installation, use, and maintenance of electrical equipment to enhance safety in combustible dust atmospheres.
Purpose
1. To summarize current practices for the classification of combustible dust atmospheres.
2. To publish standards and practices for the design, installation, maintenance, and use of electrical equipment in combustible dust atmospheres.
3. To publish guidelines, conduct symposia, and otherwise extend knowledge for the use of electrical equipment in combustible dust atmospheres.
4. To provide guidance on national and international codes and standards for electrical equipment for use in combustible dust atmospheres.
Activity
The ISA12.10 subcommittee meeting took place on 14 March 2012 at the Homewood Suites in Orlando, FL. The Chair is to review membership list and move inactive members to information status. One attendee requested to join as an information member, and two as voting members. The comments on ISA-60079-10-2 Draft 3 were reviewed and answered. Draft 4 was sent out (27 March 2012) for committee and subcommittee comments.
