A message from your 2012 FPID Division Director

In spite of the dark and gloomy economic news from the United States and Europe, there is a bright light that stared to shine and it is coming from both the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates competing for the 2012 elections.

That bright light is the idea of going back to manufacturing. For quite some time we have been focusing on selling information, however we are finding out that information is now available for free from the internet.

Since innovation plays an important role in the food and pharmaceutical industries especially in manufacturing. For example, robotics is one area that offers opportunity for further advancement in areas such as fill–finish production. In terms of accuracy, speed and flexibility, robots meet and in many cases exceed what these industries require.

Another area where we see innovation is in the manufacturing of Medical Devices and also in applying Process Analytical Technology (PAT) in improving product quality and consistency.
