SOC - Life Members Committee

The primary purpose of this committee is to serve as a mentoring and resource group within the Society.

Objectives

  • To channel the wisdom and expertise of Life Members to entry-level industry professionals.
  • To support a broad range of student activities.
  • To encourage continuing education and training within the profession.
  • To involve Life Members in the activities of ISA.

Duties

  • To communicate an important and continuing role for Life Members within the life of the Society.
  • To obtain, manage and distribute funds contributed to this committee's activity.

Organization and Administration

The committee is a standing committee of the ISA Executive Board, within the President's Department. The incoming President appoints a Chairman to a two-year term. A Vice-Chairman is appointed during the Chairman's second year to prepare to serve as Chairman. The Chairman serves as Past Chairman for one year.

Leadership for the committee is provided by a minimum of five members, including the Chairman. The President appoints two members each year to a two-year term.

Staff support is provided by the Member Services Department.

How do I Get to Be A Life Member?

An ISA Member is eligible for life membership when (a) the Member completes 25 years of ISA service (including student membership) and (b) years of ISA membership added to age equal at least 90. If your birthdate is correct in ISA's database and you have reached the 90 total, please contact memberhelp@isa.org with your name, member number and birthdate. You must state "Request for Life Membership" as the subject of the email. We will contact you via email.

Benefits of Becoming a Life Member

A Life Member pays no membership dues. The ISA Directory of Instrumentation is not distributed automatically, but is available at no charge, and can be obtained by contacting ISA Customer Service (info@isa.org). Life Members may select two Divisions (one from each Department: Automation & Technology and Industries & Sciences) as part of their membership. Additional Division memberships are $10 per year.
