You can network with fellow instrumentation, systems, and automation (i.s.&a.) professionals and practitioners in our local Section. Many ISA Sections:
organize meetings where technical information is exchanged by experts,
organize tours of local facilities to see i.s.&a. technology being applied,
organize local training programs, conferences or exhibitions,
offer scholarships to deserving students,
contribute to the local community, and
provide opportunities to socialize with your peers.
You can learn more about the resources available to you through our Section, by contacting one of the ISA Section leaders listed below.
Message from the President
Welcome to the ISA Edmonton Section.
Located near the center of Alberta, in Western Canada, the City of Edmonton is known as the Gateway to the North and Canada's Festival City. It's also home to the North Saskatchewan River Valley with the largest urban parkland in North America.
The Edmonton Section serves as a focal point for Instrumentation, Systems and Automation practitioners in Northern Alberta. Edmonton also serves Northern Alberta's oil/gas/manufacturing industries, including the Ft. McMurray Oil Sands area where we are supporting a local Sub-Section, and the Northwest Territories. Our 400+ members are involved in the development, and implementation of leading edge technologies and research in instrument equipment, plant and process design, software development, and communications.
The Edmonton Section is hosting our biannual Exhibit & Safety & Security Conference April 18-19, 2012 at Edmonton Northlands. Complete details on this event with the latest updates can be found at http://www.isaedmontonshow.ca/ The Section will also be holding our 9th annual Oil Sands Automation Conference in Ft. McMurray, Alberta March 13-14, 2012. Visit http://www.isaedmonton.ca/OilSands/ for more information on this, the only event that focuses on automation in all parts of the oil sands industry.
The Edmonton Section also publishes, jointly with the Calgary Section, an annual “ISA Alberta Instrumentation Directory & Technical Handbook” used extensively by instrument professionals in Western Canada. Visit http://www.isa-alberta.org/ to access the on-line version of this tool and search for local suppliers.
Please visit our local web site where you will find our monthly newsletter “The Contactor” and the latest information on our upcoming Section technical meetings, socials, and much more. Our technical meetings are normally held the last Monday of the month September through May, except December and we encourage you to preregister via our PayPal link.
Feel free to contact myself or our administrative assistant for more information.
