Survey and monitor both national and international oil immersion practices.
Purpose
To summarize current practices for oil immersion as a protection technique for electrical apparatus intended for use in hazardous (classified) locations.
To publish standards, recommended practices, and technical reports for the construction, marking, and performance of equipment, using oil immersion as a protection technique.
To submit proposals, as needed, for revisions to standards, recommended practices, and technical reports outlining the various methods for oil immersion to prevent ignition of flammable atmospheres.
A Word from the Chairman
Since responsibility for the maintenance of IEC 60079-6 has been given to TC31 WG22, the responsibility for the revision work on ANSI/ISA-60079-6 (12.26.01)-1998, Electrical Apparatus for Use in Class I, Zone 1 Hazardous (Classified) Locations: Type of Protection - Oil-Immersion "o", has been transferred to the ISA12.0 Subcommittee and renumbered ISA-60079-6 (12.00.05). Therefore, there is no activity within the ISA12.26 Subcommittee at this time.
