ISA12.25, Powder Filling

Scope

Survey and monitor both national and international powder filling practices.

Purpose

1. To summarize current practices for powder filling as a protection technique for electrical apparatus intended for use in hazardous (classified) locations.
2. To publish standards, recommended practices, and technical reports for the construction, marking, and performance of equipment, using powder filling as a protection technique.
3. To submit proposals, as needed, for revisions to standards, recommended practices, and technical reports outlining the various methods for powder filling to prevent ignition of flammable atmospheres.

A Word from the Chairman

Since responsibility for the maintenance of IEC 60079-5 has been given to TC31 WG22, the responsibility for the revision work on ANSI/ISA-60079-5 (12.25.01)-1998, Electrical Apparatus for Use in Class I, Zone 1 Hazardous (Classified) Locations: Type of Protection - Powder Filling "q", has been transferred to the ISA12.0 Subcommittee and renumbered ISA-60079-5 (12.00.04). Therefore, there is no activity within the ISA12.25 Subcommittee at this time.
