ISA12.13, Performance Requirements for Combustible Gas Detectors

Scope

Prepare standards and recommended practices for performance, installation, operation, and maintenance of combustion gas detection instruments. Promote current technology for proper use and maintenance to enhance safety of hazardous areas. Be a source of technical information. Support efforts to obtain international standards for these instruments.

Purpose

To actively monitor applications, be a source for technical information, and prepare documents as needed to improve minimum performance of combustible gas detection instruments.

A Word from the Chairman

ISA12.13 has an active agenda working on ISA-TR12.13.03 on combustible gas detection, on ISA-60079-29-1 dealing with gas detector performance requirements, and on ISA-60079-29-2 covering gas detector selection, installation, use and maintenance. In addition, the subcommittee recently published ANSI/ISA-12.13.04-2007, Performance Requirements for Open Path Combustible Gas Detectors.

Encouraging participation from all aspects of industry, ISA12.13 is especially in need of gas detection product users to become involved in their standards development work related to national and international requirements. Please contact Eliana Beattie, Jon Miller, or Bob Seitz to find out more.
