ISA12.12, Apparatus for Division 2 Hazardous Locations

Scope

The committee shall survey, monitor, and participate in the development of national and international standards, practices, and codes addressing Division 2/Zone 2 apparatus and systems for the use in Hazardous (Classified) Locations.

Provide support for ISA as the TAG Administrator for IEC/TC31 USTAG.

Purpose

To summarize current practices and publish standards and practices related to electrical equipment intended for use in Class I, Zone 2 and Zone 22, Class I, II and III, Division 2 and Class III, Division 1 Hazardous (Classified) Locations.
To submit proposals, as needed, for revisions to standards and practices addressing non-incendive equipment and Type "n" apparatus and systems.
To enhance these protection concepts and ISA's continued leadership in this area.
To promote the proper installation, use, and maintenance of apparatus and systems to enhance safety in hazardous (classified) locations.

A Word from the Chairman

The subcommittee is currently working on the revision of ANSI/ISA-60079-15 (12.12.02)-2003, Electrical Apparatus for Use in Class I, Zone 2 Hazardous (Classified) Locations - Type of Protection "n", and recently published the revised ANSI/ISA-12.12.01-2007, Nonincendive Electrical Equipment for Use in Class I and II, Division 2 and Class III, Division 1 and 2 Hazardous (Classified) Locations.
