ISA12.10, Electrical Equipment and Area Classification for Combustible Dust Atmospheres
Scope
To formulate standards and practices for the design, installation, use, and maintenance of electrical equipment in combustible dust atmospheres, as defined in national and international codes and standards.
To promote the proper design, installation, use, and maintenance of electrical equipment to enhance safety in combustible dust atmospheres.
Purpose
1. To summarize current practices for the classification of combustible dust atmospheres.
2. To publish standards and practices for the design, installation, maintenance, and use of:
a) electrical equipment in combustible dust atmospheres.
3. To publish guidelines, conduct symposia, and otherwise extend knowledge for the use of electrical equipment in combustible dust atmospheres.
4. To provide guidance on national and international codes and standards for electrical equipment for use in combustible dust atmospheres.
A Word from the Chairman
Work has begun on revision of the ISA-61241 standards, now under the IEC 60079 series.
