3. It is not within the scope of this committee to endorse any of the referenced standards or documents.
Purpose
To revise ANSI/ISA-12.01.01-2009, Definitions and Information Pertaining to Electrical Equipment in Hazardous (Classified) Locations, with a view to document reference information pertaining to protection techniques, terminology, and installation of electrical equipment in hazardous locations.
Activity
ISA12.01 met on Monday, 22 October 2012 at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel, Seattle, Washington.
The subcommittee members reviewed the ISA12.1 work program, which at the current time is limited to developing the next edition of ISA-12.01.01, Definitions and Information Pertaining to Electrical Equipment in Hazardous (Classified) Locations. The last edition was published in March 2009 and the next action date was March 2012.
Edition 3 draft 1 was distributed to the ISA12 committee and the subcommittee for ballot on 31 August 2012 and closed on 3 October 2012. The subcommittee ballot had 11 of 16 returned with all approving and one with comments. The ISA12 Committee ballot had 16 of 24 returned with all approving and 5 with comments, so both ballots passed.
ISA12.1 addressed all of the comments and there were only editorial changes; therefore, the document is ready to proceed to public review.
ISA12.1 will hold a meeting on 27 February 2013 in San Diego with plans to address any public review comments on ISA-12.01.01.
