ISA12.01, Reference Committee on Hazardous Locations

Scope

1. To review the existing ISA-RP12.1-1960 and provide, as needed, general information and guidance on the requirements of electrical instruments in hazardous locations. It is, thus, within the scope of this committee to provide a compendium of known national and international standards and other documents, and a glossary of terms pertaining to electrical instruments in hazardous locations.

2. Further, it is within the scope of this committee to publish the revised ISA-RP12.1 document in one or several parts as deemed appropriate.

3. It is not within the scope of this committee to endorse any of the referenced standards or documents.

Purpose

To revise ISA-RP12.1, "Electrical Instruments in Hazardous Atmospheres," published in 1960 with a view to document reference information pertaining to protection techniques, terminology, and installation of electrical equipment in hazardous locations.

The working group is updating ANSI/ISA-12.01.01, Definitions and Information Pertaining to Electrical Instruments in Hazardous (Classified) Locations.
