Falcon Electric’s Industrial-Grade SSG® Series on-line, double-conversion UPS is designed to handle harsh automation and industrial power environments. Due to its rugged design, the SSG Series is UL, cUL and CE Listed for temperatures from -20°C to 55°C (-4°F to 131°F). All SSG Series models are equipped with batteries having a 10-year life expectancy in a typical 25°C environment - double the average UPS battery life. When the UPS is installed in a 50°C (122° F) location, the projected battery life is 4 years. This is over four times the typical UPS battery life for the same temperature environment.
The 1.5kVA to 3kVA SSG Series’ ability to withstand high temperatures typically found in factory and industrial applications give users more flexibility in deploying power protection devices in these environments. In addition to higher temperature tolerance, the SSG intelligently monitors its batteries. The batteries inside the SSG Series UPS are monitored in a more precise manner and the UPS is able to give users a clear “replace battery” signal via an audible alarm. The message is also broadcast through the network or Internet to a central monitoring workstation if the optional SNMP/HTTP monitoring card is installed.
Available in rack or tower configurations, the SSG also gives users the ability to program two independent output “Load Segments.” This feature extends battery runtime for a specified pair of receptacles for a particular connected device – such as a controller – while cutting off the power to the remaining receptacles after a utility loss or low battery condition. For applications that require hours of back-up, battery banks can be added and configured easily with included cables. Battery packs are available that include an optional internal charger to maintain a reasonable recharge time. Moreover, the units are also equipped with an NFPA-70, NEC 645-11 compliant REPO interface assuring easy integration. Remote output receptacle control is an option to REPO, allowing the load segment outlets to be remotely controlled using a wire connected, remote switch.
The SSG Series’ regenerative true double-conversion on-line topology is designed to give users the highest level of protection against a wide spectrum of power problems. The UPS models provide a continuous, clean, tightly regulated power source from the most polluted incoming AC power source. Unlike off-line and line-interactive UPS designs, the SSG Series acts as an electronic firewall between incoming “dirty” power and sensitive micro-processor-based PLCs, computers and automated systems – increasing system availability and uptime.
With the supplied UPSilon® software, all models support unattended shutdown, UPS management, data logging and a power diagnostic tool. The software supports all Windows® platforms including Version 8 and Server Version 2012, Novell NetWare® 5 & 6, LINUX and FreeBSD. UPSilon for UNIX is available at an additional cost and supports most popular UNIX platform and OS versions.
The SSG Series is found protecting oil & gas, waste water, light rail, solar/wind, toll/traffic management, military and other mission-critical applications against the harmful effects of unreliable power.
