ProtoCessor Configuration Auto-Selector

The Configuration Auto-Selector is available for the company’s line of OEM protocol gateways. This feature enables the manufacturer to pre-load multiple predefined configurations onto each ProtoCessor used in their device. DIP switches on the ProtoCessor, ProtoCarrier, or ProtoNode allows the manufacturer to select the specific configuration necessary for an application. For instance, a manufacturer might have four models of their product that needs to be able to provide a BACnet/IP communication. Rather than purchase four different gateways, they can stock a single gateway preloaded with the four different protocol configurations. Then, as the OEM product is ready to deliver, a simple DIP switch setting sets up that device for BACnet/IP. This greatly simplifies stocking requirements, reduces manufacturing costs, enhances product capability and meets the needs of the specific customer. Another example is a ProtoNode preconfigured to provide BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, LonWorks or SNMP for a specific OEM device. Again, the manufacturer would only need to stock a single component, yet is capable of providing the specific communication output demanded by the customer with a simple DIP switch selection.
