Intrinsically safe communicator

The 475 Field Communicator is the latest in Emerson’s long line of state-of-the-art intrinsically safe communicators. With a new full-color user interface and extensive use of graphical diagnostics powered by enhancements to the Electronic Device Description Language (EDDL), this new handheld communicator makes it possible for users to view device diagnostic data graphically in the field for on-the-spot diagnosis and troubleshooting. The bright touch-screen display makes the graphics easy to read, even in sunlight, while the multi-level backlight produces clear displays in poorly lighted areas as well. The new field communicator is fully compatible with Emerson’s AMS™ Suite: Intelligent Device Manager asset management software, bringing predictive maintenance capabilities out to the field. The new lithium-ion power module in the 475 Field Communicator is a direct response to the battery life issue. It provides more than 20 hours of continuous use and even longer when standby mode is employed – plenty to last at least two shifts before recharging.
