GE Fanuc to buy Intellution
Charlottesville, Va. -- GE Fanuc Automation North America Inc. will buy Foxborough, Mass.-based Intellution Inc. from Emerson.
GE Fanuc is an affiliate of General Electric Co. and supplies automation software and is a joint venture between General Electric Co. and Fanuc Ltd. of Japan. Intellution supplies industrial automation software.
Founded in 1980, Intellution provides a software platform that collects, distributes, controls and visually presents information from the plant floor throughout the enterprise, supplying customers with scalable solutions.
"Intellution enhances our software functionality with key batch, historian and plant-intelligence technologies, which further GE’s abilities to deliver automation solutions that improve quality, reduce cycle times, increase productivity, and facilitate collaboration in the supply chain," said Charlene Begley, president and CEO of GE Fanuc.
“Aligning with GE's broad range of product offerings in the industrial automation markets will bring benefits to all of our customers,” said Robert L. Yeager, president of Intellution.
"The addition of Intellution further enhances our ability to provide powerful automation solutions – which span machine programming and visualization, batch processing, plant-wide supervisory control systems, and enterprise-wide collaborative production management with supply chain optimization capabilities," said Kevin Roach, vice president of the GE Fanuc global solutions business.
The transaction is subject to government approvals and other customary conditions. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
