Joliet Junior College takes top spot at District 6 competition
On 15 April, 14 teams competed in the ISA District 6 Student Competition hosted at the Mitchell Technical Institute in Mitchell, N.Dak.
The competition was broken up into five challenges throughout the day, which consisted of two design exercises and three analog calibration scenarios. The time limit for each exercise was 45 minutes. The team scoring the highest in the two design exercises was selected to compete in the Quiz Bowl against the team scoring the highest in the three analog exercises. The overall winner of the competition was determined by the winner of the Quiz Bowl held at the end of the competition. The Bowl consisted of a serious of technical questions—within a 45 minute time limit or 50 questions, whichever comes first.
Joliet Junior College’s ISA Student Section team was the 2011first place winner. It is the first time this student section team has won first place in this competition. Team members were Kyle Andre, Keith Cannon, Bob Clark, and Tim Quigley. The team is advised by Adjunct Technical Professor Edward Meyers.
