Packaging automation savings

The OMAC packaging workgroup (OPW) has been promoting the benefits of its connect-and-pack standards (PackML and PackTags) through periodic seminars. The connect-and-pack standards follow the ISA88 standards and are documented in an ISA88 technical report, ISA-TR88.00.02 Machine and Unit States: An Implementation Example of ISA88, which is available on the ISA standards web site.

The next connect-and-pack seminar is scheduled for 7 October in Las Vegas, held in conjunction with PACK EXPO. The agenda will include user benefits achieved from Connect-and-Pack, OEM benefit, and contents of the ISA88 Technical Report (PackML and PackTags). Attendees will also see an example implementation of PackML and PackTags on a control platform as well as implementation of PackML and PackTags on a supervisory platform (HMI, MES).

An OPW booth will include technology providers who will demonstrate implementations of connect-and-pack. Users, machine builders, and technology providers will present implementations and the benefits attained through leveraging these standards.
