Division Webmaster

1. Duties and Responsibilities - The Division Webmaster is responsible for creating and maintaining the Division's page on the World Wide Web. He/she should be someone with better than average computer literacy, who is quite familiar with Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), File Transfer Protocol (FTP) operations and with the UNIX environment.

The Division Webmaster's primary duties consist of:

  • Soliciting, accepting, coordinating and editing appropriate content for on-screen viewing ;
  • Converting document to HTML format for posting on the Web;
  • Entering content information into dial-up database, creating paths to linked pages, coordinating content updates, and uploading files;
  • Designing Web pages that conform to ISA Style Guide, with text and graphics to present content in a tasteful, appealing and useful format, and for optimum ease of access;
  • Assisting Division members and conducting Division training in Internet operations.

2. Position Parameters - The following list is the basic parameters for the position of webmaster:

  • Term of Office - 1 year; to provide continutity would be appropriate to serve successive years
  • Resources Available - On Line Style Guide, other Division officers and ISA Staff
  • Time Committment - Average 2-4 hours per month
  • Meeting Obligations - Division Executive Board Meetings; regular Division meetings, others as may be required
  • Qualifications - Division member in good standing for at least one year. Well organized; attention to detail, good communicator through the written word, aware of Society operations and activity, and strong inclination toward computer and internet technology.
  • Method of Appointment - Appointed by the President.

3. Contents of Division Web Site -The Division Web Site may be used as a platform for presenting an almost limitless variety of information related to the Division, the Society, and other subjects. The following list is not all-inclusive, but illustrates the type of material which is appropriate to include:

  • Division Newsletter
  • Directory of Division's leaders
  • Division Symposia
  • Jobs listing and career opportunities
  • Communications from Division Director
  • Division's Busines Plan
  • ISA President's Meeting reports
  • Members Only pages
  • Links to ISA Homepage and other sites

4.ISA Web Server Hosting - Divisions may use the ISA web server as a host for their Division web site. Use of the ISA server requires that a signed Web Hosting Agreement
