DIVISION OFFICERS FOR 2004

If you have not already done so, it is time to elect your Division's officers for the next year. As soon as your elections are done, please complete the Division Leader Report Form and fax it back to ISA (919) 549-8288, attention Bill Palmer. You may also e-mail the file to Bill.

All we need is the person's name, their Member number, and the position to which they have been elected, but any other information is always helpful. With this information, ISA Staff will be able to serve your Division better by providing correct contact information on your Division's Web page on the ISANetwork and recognizing your Leaders.

MINUTES ARE NOW AVAILABLE

Thank you to all the Division Leaders who were able to attend the 2003 ISA President's Fall Meeting in Houston. The minutes from the Joint A&T/I&S Department Meeting have been posted online at the A&T Department Web site and the I&S Department Web site.

DIVISION ANNUAL REPORTS

In order to conform with the most current Society meeting format, with a spring meeting, rather than one in the winter and one in the summer, beginning in 2004, the Division annual report will be due on 15 February. This will allow the deliberations of the I&S and the A&T Department's respective Honors & Awards Committees to report their findings to the Society H&A Committee, and generally place the Division Awards in phase with the rest of the Society. Additionally, the reporting period will coincide exactly with the Division Director's term of service, so the report will not be the product of the service of two different Directors. Beginning in 2004, Division Communications Awards, which are not part of the Society's H&A program, will be due on 15 March.

SOCIETY HONORS & AWARDS

Division leaders and nominators please note that for Service and Technical Awards:

  • If received by 31 January, nominations do not need to include candidate bio (the candidate will be contacted directly for this input)
  • If received between 1 February and 15 March, nominations must include the complete package (description of contribution and candidate bio).

As noted above, the annual reports are now due on 15 February. These reports provide the basis for the determination of the outstanding Division in the A&T and I&S Departments, which have been dominated by a very few Divisions in recent years. Please plan to claim credit for all the good work you and your Division have accomplished by submitting a complete annual report.

As the technical component of the Society, Divisions are expected to be the principal source of nominations for the Society's technical awards. Please plan now to nominate those deserving individuals whose contributions you have observed. Criteria for technical awards, and procedures, can be found on the ISANetwork in the Section titled Honors & Awards.

DIVISION FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

These statements are posted online shortly after the close of each quarter. The Division financial statements as of 30 September 2003 are now posted in the Division Leader Resources area.

DIVISION ROSTER AND LABELS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE

Reminder - You can now download your Division Rosters online! This action will save you a lot of time and provide information when you want it. The new process provides a comprehensive file of data about each Division Member at the end of each month. Both Access and Excel templates, instructions, and ISA's Privacy Policy are all available online for downloading the roster. Please remember you must be logged in so the system can recognize you.

Your Division roster is updated monthly and each run is dated. The coded Division Director, Director-elect, Membership Chair, Department Vice President, and Vice President-elect can download the roster information. The coded leaders for this privilege will find the information at the bottom of the page under: Members and Leaders > Leader Resources > Division > Admin Forms. You will find there a link to your Division roster, along with a link to a set of easy to follow instructions, and links to various Access and Excel templates into which you can load your data, and from which you can generate all the reports needed for membership administration of your Division. ISA no longer sends out Division rosters, so please make sure you begin using this process immediately.

REMINDER TO ALL DIVISION DIRECTORS

If you have not already done so, please submit your Director's message to Bill for Web site posting. The message should highlight sessions of interest to your Members from ISA EXPO 2003, as well as other Division activities at the EXPO, and, as far as possible, plans for the ISA EXPO 2004 conference.

ISA EXPO 2003 DIVISION CONFERENCE PROGRAM

Thanks to the splendid cooperation and hard work of ISA's Divisions, this year's technical program enjoyed spectacular success, with 19 Divisions either sponsoring or co-sponsoring sessions. Over the next few weeks selected papers will be posted to the Division Web sites, so be on the lookout for some new material.

WANTED: DIVISION PROGRAM COORDINATORS FOR ISA EXPO 2004

Time has come to start looking ahead to ISA EXPO 2004 in Houston. The Technical Conferences Department is still accepting nominations for program coordinators to aid us in the planning and preparation for the show. When making your selections please keep in mind that your decision is an important one. Choosing a good representative will benefit your Division, the Society, and the overall success of ISA EXPO 2004. If your Division has not yet nominated a Program Coordinator, please do so as soon as possible. Duties are listed on the ISANetwork. To submit your Division's nomination, please contact Matricia Smith or (919) 990-9264.
