January/February 2003Welcome to the January/February Division Leaders' Brief. This month's issue is filled with articles to help you manage your Division. Please share this information with your fellow Division leaders, members, colleagues and friends. Contents:
ISA PRESIDENT'S SPRING MEETINGPlan now to attend the ISA 2003 President's Spring Meeting, 12-16 April 2003, Memphis, TN. Complete information, including registration and housing may be found online. Please make note of all the Division meetings; usual time/date slots have been changed to accommodate our very productive Division leaders. If you have any questions about the schedule please contact Kelly Bishop at kbishop@isa.org. DIVISION LEADERS PLANNING WORKSHOPISA's Division leaders conduct most of their business at President's Meetings throughout the year. At the upcoming President's Spring Meeting in Memphis we will be conducting our annual Division Leaders Planning Workshop. The workshop is designed to help incoming and existing leaders with their Division business for the upcoming year. If there is anything in particular you would like to cover at this workshop contact Kelly Bishop at kbishop@isa.org. Minutes from the last Division Leaders Planning Workshop are available online. HONORS AND AWARDS AND FELLOW NOMINEES SOUGHT BY ISAGreat individual satisfaction comes from peer recognition. A major objective of ISA is to recognize and acknowledge outstanding contributions by individuals to the Society and to the instrumentation, systems, and automation profession. The 2003 Honors & Awards Committee encourages you to nominate deserving individuals for Service and Technical recognition. Award categories, criteria, and nomination forms are available online. Nominations are also being sought for ISA's highest level of membership: Fellow Grade. A Senior Member must be nominated for this honor, and the election requires a majority vote by the Executive Board of the Society. Please nominate someone who possesses outstanding and acknowledged engineering or scientific attainments by filling out the online application form. The deadline for Honors and Awards and Fellow nominations is 1 March 2003. Award recipients will be recognized at the annual ISA Honors & Awards Banquet in Houston, Texas, in October. Remember that no one will be honored or recognized without first being nominated by YOU. If you have any questions please contact Laura Crumpler at lcrumpler@isa.org. PRE-RECORDED LEADER TRAINING SESSIONSPre-recorded seminars are recordings of previous live web seminars...the same great information only without the live Q&A session. They are conducted via the Internet, no telephone line needed. If you were unable to attend the online Division Planning Session, Paul Gruhn's Electronic Communication Session or any others, they are now available online. LIVE WEB TRAINING SESSIONS FOR ISA LEADERSIn 2002, ISA launched a series of live Web-based leader training seminars to help orient ISA volunteer leaders to key Society services and encourage interaction among our leaders and staff to solve common problems and share information. In 2003, we want to make the seminars even better by adding topics and formats of most interest to you. Please help us by completing a quick online survey.
