Tips for a Successful Press Conference
- News to be announced must be NEW and INTERESTING to the press.
- High profile employees should be present at the press conference.
- Make sure the press knows all of the details of your press conference, including the starting time, topic, location, how to contact you, etc. ISA can provide the list of pre-registered press after September 25, 2009.
- Provide a press release and/or press package or other source of information that the press can take with them after your conference. Bring these materials to the conference with you to distribute.
- Arrange a follow up briefing in your exhibitor booth - a time and place for press to meet with key employees after the conference in order to schedule interviews, give quotes, and exchange contact information.
- Announce the times and location for the follow up briefing at your press conference.
- Providing refreshments can make a conference more appealing and comfortable, but are not mandatory for success. Catering for press conferences is available by contacting Aramark, the official Reliant Center caterer, directly at (832) 667-2420.
