Device management is an on-going process beginning with initial installation and commissioning and continues with periodic calibration and diagnostic checks over the life of the device to ensure the device, and the plant, operates reliably and with high performance. In this presentation members of the ISA104 (EDDL) committee examine how each of these areas may be addressed using enhanced EDDL. The long term benefits of EDDL will be examined based on end user experience using EDDL and earlier technologies to support field device installation and maintenance. Several device examples will be used to illustrate how EDDL enables consistent, easy to use interfaces.
