ISA84 Safety Instrumented Systems Certificate Programs

ISA and the Automation Standards Compliance Institute (ASCI) introduce three certificate programs that are designed to increase knowledge and awareness of the ISA84 standard.

The ISA84 specialist certificates are awarded to those who successfully complete a designated training program , prerequisites (for Certificates 2 and 3), and pass a multiple choice exam offered through the Prometric testing centers. You can register to take the training course only and receive continuing education units (CEUs) for completion of the training course, or you can register for the certificate program which includes the exam.

Certificate 1: ISA84 SIS Fundamentals Specialist

Certificate 2: ISA84 SIL Selection Specialist

Certificate 3: ISA84 SIL Verification Specialist

ISA84 SIS Expert: Individuals who achieve Certificates 1, 2, and 3 are designated as ISA84 SIS Experts.

If you register for the certificate program, your certificate program fee includes the fee for the course and the certificate program exam. Certificate program applicants who successfully complete the exam will be issued an ISA certificate specifying that they have successfully completed the certificate program.

All certificate program exams are administered electronically through Prometric testing centers.

Please visit www.prometric.com/isa to determine what locations are close to you. Certificate program applicants must successfully complete the required course prior to taking the certificate exam. The certificate exam must be taken within three months of the last day of the certificate program course. If a certificate program applicant fails the exam, he may re-test one time within the initial three month testing window. If an applicant does not pass the exam within the three month window of the course and would like to receive the certificate, the applicant must register for the course and exam again and re-take both.

Certificate Programs and Certification Programs

Certificate programs are typically associated with mastery of specific course content and may or may not require work experience. Certification programs are based on a job analysis identifying specific knowledge, skills, and attributes to perform a specific job and require that successful candidates demonstrate identified knowledge, skills, and attributes beyond any educational program.
