ISA International Student Games (ISG)

14 October 2008
Reliant Center
Houston, Texas

This competition has evolved into a signature event of challenging practical problems. The one-day event brings together teams from around the world who are eager to pit their knowledge and skills against stimulating, real-life problems, and the other teams. Participating teams are identified at the District level. Some Districts choose to hold a competition among the ISA Student Sections in the District to select their representative. All student team participants must be ISA Student Members in good standing. Questions about the Games can be directed to Laura Crumpler at 919-990-9232 or lcrumpler@isa.org.

Background

ISA first conducted the International Student Competition in 1993. The competition provides an opportunity for ISA Student Members worldwide to demonstrate and further their knowledge of automation and control technologies while enjoying the camaraderie and fun of the competition.

In 2001, the event was renamed the International Student Games (ISG). Through 2003, the ISG composed two sections: the ISA All-Star Bowl and the ISA Practical. No games were held in 2004. They returned strong in 2005 with the all practical problems format. Team registrations are coordinated through each ISA District Vice President. Each District is responsible for determining the method for selecting a team to represent their District. Each student representative must be registered no later than 30 days before the event.
