Student Section Activity

Here is a paper prepared for presentation during the Advances in Control Education (ACE) Congress 2006 to be held in June in Madrid. The paper was developed to focus attention on the accomplishments of the three ISA Student Sections in Spain. However, it is hoped that other ISA Student groups will be inspired by what  has been done in Spain and will be led to apply locally some ideas gained here.

ACE 2006 is the seventh in the series of symposia on advances in control education organized triennially under the auspices of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). Previous events have been as follows:

  • First Symposium, Swansea, 1988 chaired by Prof. D. Atherton, UK
  • Second Symposium, Boston, 1991 chaired by Prof. M. Rabins, USA
  • Third Symposium, Tokyo, 1994 chaired by Prof. K. Furuta, Japan
  • Fourth Symposium, Istanbul,1997 chaired by Prof. P. Joergl, Austria
  • Fifth Symposium, Gold Coast, 2000 chaired by Profs. Brisk and Vlacic, Australia
  • Sixth Symposium, Oulu, 2003 chaired by Prof. Leiviskä, Finland

The 7th Symposium on Advances in Control Education, ACE 2006, is an international forum on recent developments and advances in control education. Academic researchers and lecturers in control, R&D specialists in instrumentation, control and industrial automation, and practicing control engineers from a variety of industrial sectors will find the event especially rewarding. As in earlier symposia, the program will include plenary lectures, technical sessions, interactive sessions, and software presentations.

I believe that providing this report to the ACE Congress is a positive way to advance the automatic thinking of ISA whenever and wherever automation education is featured.
