ISA Leaders Meeting
Policy and program development
Members who attend an ISA Leaders Meeting for the first time are often surprised at how easy it is to have direct input to the Society's decision-making process. Pass along your ideas, needs or proposals directly to appropriate Society units such as the Publications Department, the Standards & Practices Department, the Professional Development Department, or a technical interest Division. Or try out your ideas or ask questions of other Society leaders during the breaks and social functions.
Activities and concepts being considered by ISA units are carefully reviewed, studied, and documented with supporting financial data. When a department or committee drafts a new proposal, it is reviewed by the Strategic Planning Department and Finance Committee before going to the Executive Board for action. Normally, a new program first appears before the Executive Board as an information item, so further information can be requested, if necessary, before action is approved.
When the ISA Executive Board approves a policy matter, it is documented in the ISA Manual of Organization and Procedures (MOP). When the Board adopts a new, on-going program such as a publication or a meeting, it is integrated into the business plan and budget and implemented by the Society's professional staff.
