2009 Spring Leaders Meeting
What Did I Miss?
The 2009 ISA Spring Leaders Meeting (SLM) was held in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana at the Sheraton Indianapolis City Centre Hotel. The new Colts NFL Football Stadium was not far away and many of the best restaurants in the area were within walking distance of the hotel.
Business at Hand
- Executive Board voted on important recommendations including:
- Honors & Awards Committee recommendations for 2009 honorees
- Admissions Committee recommendations for Fellow grade elections
- Scholarship Committee recommendations for 2009 scholarship awards
- Other business issues (see Executive Board minutes for details)
- Strategic Planning Department held a workshop to prioritize ISA objectives
- Finance Committee discussed critical issues facing the Society in development of the 2010 business plan and budget
- Nominating Committee developed a slate of 2010 officer nominees for election by Council of Society Delegates at FLM
- District and Department Boards discussed and made recommendations to support efforts to develop the 2010 Society budget
A group event was held in Fishers, Indiana at Connor Prairie,. Dinner consisted of pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked chicken, baked beans, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, and some very tasty brownies for dessert. After dinner, guests enjoyed an evening stroll through the Prairietown village with costumed interpreters welcoming everyone into their homes and businesses.
Leslie Zoss, as many of you may remember, is one of ISA’s former presidents and resides in Indianapolis. Les brought his family and a few friends to the Monday evening President’s Reception at the hotel and entertained SLM attendees with some wonderful Bluegrass music.
