District Operations

The Board of District Vice Presidents is responsible for administering and overseeing the activities of the geographically based Society subunits – the Sections, Regions, and Districts – within the authority delegated by and under the oversight of the ISA Executive Board.

Each District elects a Vice President who serves on the District Board. Other elected positions at the District level are the Vice President-elect, who automatically rotates into the DVP post; the Nominator, who serves on the Society Nominating Committee, and also acts as chair for the District Nominating Committee; and the Alternate Nominator, who fills in if the Nominator is unable to serve. Society Delegates also serve on the District Council. All other District Council positions are filled at the invitation of the current DVP.

The objective of the District Vice President (DVP) is to represent the members and Sections in the District in the considerations and actions of the Board of District Vice Presidents; and to continually convey in both directions the information and advice essential to the Society’s growth and for the attainment of its purposes. At all Society levels, the DVP is concerned with improving overall Society plans, policies, programs, services and operations; and within the District, with strengthening activities of the Sections, increasing membership, and improving member relations.

Resources to enable District Vice Presidents to function effectively can be accessed from the left navigation bar. Select the primary header Members & Leaders > Leader Resources > Districts.

From this page, looking at the left navigation bar, you will see under Districts two options: Councils or Members.

When you select Councils, you will have access to the coded council members for each District, plus the Latin America Region under District 7. Contact information for these leaders is provided.

When you select Members, a link to each District page is provided. Once on a District page, you will find information about the upcoming District Leadership Conference or any other information the District Council has chosen to post.
