Governance Structure Task Force Updates

The Governance Structure Task Force Final Report and Governance Structure Task Force Report Appendices were submitted to and adopted by the ISA Executive Board and having completed its work, the Governance Structure Task Force was disbanded.
The task force held a one day face-to-face meeting in conjunction with the Fall Leaders Meeting to discuss and finalize open issues identified in the August interim status report.
The Governance Structure Task Force Status Report - 8/01/2012 was submitted to the Executive Board. The Executive Board provided the report to the Council of Society Delegates for information. Feedback/comments from the ISA membership were welcomed by the task force.
A task force update/presentation was given at the opening session of the summer leader meeting. 40 leaders took the Zoomerang online survey (developed by the task force) during the 2.5 day leader meeting. The results of the survey were reviewed and discussed by the task force during a 2 day face-to-face task force meeting. The task force reviewed, discussed and fine-tuned the previous reports (current state and desired state) which will form the framework of the team’s report.
The three data analysis groups (see below) continued their work during May via conference calls and e-mails. A Zoomerang survey was created to poll ISA members at the upcoming summer leader meeting and other leaders after the meeting.
The initial four working groups (see below) gave updates of their progress during a joint conference call. A timeline was developed for the remainder of the work. The original four groups were disbanded at that time (after having completed the scope of their work) and three new groups were formed to review the reports and data collected and generate a gap analysis. The teams scheduled conference calls to decide on team leaders and start their work.

Four working groups were established within the Governance Structure Task Force. Their titles and responsibilities were:
Communications: Define the what, when, how, to whom and by whom the task force messages will be communicated. Define how general member input will be accepted.
Current State: Develop a position statement that defines the current state of the Society’s governance structure. Identify challenges, opportunities, and external forces that affect the governance structure of the Society.
Desired State: Develop a position statement that defines the desired state of the Society. Identify governance elements/attributes that will enable the Society to achieve its objectives. Identify external forces that will have an influence.
Examples of Other Governance Models: Research and compile descriptions of a minimum of six different governance structures.
