Dean holds more than 440 U.S. and foreign patents. Among Dean’s proudest accomplishments is the founding of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization dedicated to motivating the next generation to understand, use and enjoy science and technology. Dean has received numerous awards and accolades including the Heinz Award in Technology, the Economy and Employment in 1998, the National Medal of Technology from President Clinton in 2000, the Lemelson-MIT Prize in 2002 for Invention and Innovation, the United Nations Association of the USA Global Humanitarian Action Award in 2006, the American Society of Manufacturing Engineers Medal in 2007, the 2008 LEGO Prize, the 2009 Committee for Economic Development Public Policy Award and honorary degrees from more than 25 colleges and universities. About: Greg McMillan is a Principal Consultant at CDI Professional & Industrial working in DeltaV R&D and is a simulation consultant for Mynah Technologies. Greg received the Raymond D Malloy award for Good Tuning: A Pocket Guide, Advanced Control Unleashed, and The Funnier Side of Retirement for Engineers and People of the Technical Persuasion. He has contributed to several handbooks, is the editor of the Process/Industrial Instrumentation and Controls handbook, and has written a monthly “Control Talk” column since 2002. Greg is an ISA Fellow and received the ISA Kermit Fischer Environmental Award for pH control in 1991, the Control Magazine Engineer of the Year Award for the Process Industry in 1994, and was one of the first inductees into the Process Automation Hall of Fame in 2001. About: Robert S. Saltzman is receiving recognition for exceptional work in the development of UV photometric analysis systems for sulfur recovery and other processes and in the education regarding the use of these systems. The ISA Analysis Division Luft Award recognizes outstanding contributions in the analytical technology field. Saltzman has authored over sixty papers and holds six US patents on a series of photometric analyzer systems. He holds a B.S. in Engineering Physics from the University of Maine. About: Dr. Cheng is co-founder of CyboSoft, General Cybernation Group Inc. He is the originator and a key developer of CyboSoft’s patented Model-Free Adaptive (MFA) control technology, and is the inventor or the primary co-inventor of 12 U.S. patents and related international patents. Over the past 15 years while serving as CyboSoft’s CEO and CTO, Dr. Cheng has led the company in developing new MFA controllers and products to solve numerous difficult control problems. Degree obtained at PEQ/COPPE/UFRJ (Brazil) in 1991 and Ph.D. at Dortmund University (Germany) in 1996 both in chemical engineering in the process control and optimization area. In 2001 he held postdoctoral internship in the area of biosensors at Leibniz University Hannover (Germany) and in 2008, in the area of biorefineries and bioprocesses control at University RWTH Aachen (Germany). Additionally, in 2005 he completed a MBA in business management at UFRGS.
