exida announces safety, security certification

"Our customers told us, 'This instrument should never have been certified. It causes mistakes. It is safe, yes. But it's impractical.' We said, 'You’re right. We have to do better.' That's how this program came about," said Bill Goble, principal of exida during a press conference Tuesday at the Reliant Center.

exida (www.exida.com) was launching its new program for safety and security certification of automation personnel and equipment. The program seeks to create a safer world and safer places using knowledge from IEC 61508 and IEC 61511/ISA 84 safety standards.

The company has a fine pedigree. Several of the world’s top functional safety and reliability experts are founders. exida has a lot of experience in helping end users, suppliers, and integrators put standards into practice.

exida has developed tools and procedures for safety certification of instruments and has performed more certifications than any other organization. The company is an innovator in the use of the FMEDA technique for calculating product failure data and for helping users certify instruments already in use.
