Gateway integration appliance claims superiority
“This is a hardware device. We have taken all the programming out of the equation. We can interconnect Rockwell devices with this device easier than Rockwell does,” said Jim Wert.
Wert, a product engineer at ILS Technology, spoke at the company’s press conference in Houston at the Reliant Center on Tuesday.
The deviceWISE Device Gateway is an integration appliance that maps data between different devices without requiring any configuration changes in either device.
The product helps users pick best in class hardware components and integrate them without requiring special programming.
Wert said, “Pick out the best device. Don’t worry about what protocols it has. The box will figure it out.”
The Device Gateway supports most PLC brands. It provides integration to many specialized assets such as power meters, HVAC, RFID readers, vision systems, torque drivers, force presses, and many more by tailoring support for the unique features of each device.
It can also communicate with older devices over multiple protocols, such as RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, or Ethernet.
