Apprion blows away 'paper and pencil'
"We had people walking the plant and area collecting data and information on them and writing them down on paper," said John Prows, vice president of manufacturing at Huntsman’s plant in Port Neches, Tex.
“Then they’d turn that paper in, keeping 10 other people busy reading and acting on the information. The most immediate effect of implementing the Apprion system was the change in that dynamic to a far more streamlined system.”
Prows spoke at an Apprion press conference (www.apprion.com) at the Reliant Center in Houston on Tuesday.
It is the Apprion ION System, a Class 1, Div 2 (intrinsically safe) wireless application network. It provides wireless application integration, a centralized dashboard for all network monitoring, regional maps for mobile workers, and equipment status.
Huntsman collaborated with Industrial Mobility and Apprion. They built a completely mobile solution empowering operations and maintenance folks to capture defects, track work progress, and make real-time process and safety related decisions.
