Nomenclature response time
Planners tend to overlook or misunderstand response time when selecting a sensor for a SIS. Accuracy and two-way communications, which are key requirements of a BPCS sensor, seem to distract them.

Manufacturers commonly refer to response time in terms of either 90% full-scale
output or T63, the time it takes to reach 63% of the controller output.
The differences in meaning may have significant impact on sensor selection for
a SIS when response time is critical.
