User speaks. Vendors, listen up!
Out of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve's five-year experience arise two recommendations for the industry. First, adopt tighter specifications and standardize smart protocols. Second, provide a product certification procedure, or at least standardize data test suites so they comply with communications protocol standards.
We also have two suggestions for users. First, choose a vendor with a large installed base of the equipment you are buying. Also, request that the vendor provide details of similar installations or, even better, set up a visit to a current installation.
