Pittsburgh is electrified in anticipation of having POWID celebrate its 50th Symposium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  What better place to celebrate this event than the birthplace of this fine organization.   The conference committee is proud to present a stimulating conference with over fifty-four papers to be presented, twelve training courses to advance your knowledge in the industry, and a gathering of exhibitors waiting to show off their new technologies and services to the attendees.  In addition, the conference will provide attendees and spouses with an unprecedented evening of fun, food and entertainment at the Anniversary Dinner.  When you leave the “Burgh” you will be glad you had attended this gala event.

The paper session areas are as follows: Power Plant Simulation & Modeling, Power Plant Instrumentation, Advanced Control Techniques, Plant Asset Management, Advanced Plant Technologies, Nuclear Plant Issues and Technologies, Power Plant Performance Improvement with Advanced Monitoring Systems, Instrumentation Networking, Installation & Commissioning, and I&C System Security.

The training courses to be conducted are as follows:  Introduction to Boiler Control Systems, Ethernet and TCP/IP on the Plant Floor, Implementing Enterprise/Control Integration, Instrumentation Best Practices, Control Valve & Regulator Sizing and Selection, Power Plant Data Quality Assessment, Boiler Burner Management Systems-Meeting NFPA Standards, OPC-The Windows to the World are Open, Advances in Continuous Emission Monitoring (CEMS) Techniques, Control Valve for Severe Service Applications, and Changing Work Practice to Enable Smart Technology.

In addition, we would like to extend an invitation to you to attend the Executive Committee meeting Sunday afternoon and the Standards and Practice meetings on Thursday.  We look forward to seeing you and hope you will be able to attend and benefit from this monumental occasion.  And don’t forget your spouses. We’ve planned one heck of a spouse’s tour package that will acquaint them with some of the best that Pittsburgh has to offer.
